We are the Skywhales Karaoke

Skywhales: Every heart sings

Published 19 May 2022
3 minutes

The skywhales touch the hearts of everyone who experience them. As they rise on each early morning, and drift across Australian skies, Skywhale and Skywhalepapa inspire awe and wonder. They also inspire song writing and singing...Musician Jess Green (AKA Pheno) has created a song, We are the Skywhales and you can now sing your heart out with the matching karaoke!

The karaoke combines Jess's shortened version of the song with Clem Stamation's animated music video clip with images from the children’s book Every Heart Sings, Patricia Piccinini’s prints The skywhale suite and footage of the skywhales in flight during their national tour of Australia.

Skywhales: Every heart sings is a Know My Name project and the third instalment of The Balnaves Contemporary Series.

Copyright for individual image and video sequences used within are retained by the creators; Patricia Piccinini, Clem Stamation and the National Gallery of Australia.
