Key information

The National Gallery has free admission.

We ask that you book a ticket so that we can welcome you and offer you the best experience at the Gallery.

Our free general entry ticket gives you access to most exhibitions and galleries. In addition, you can add tickets for free collection tours, special art experiences and public programs as well as paid tickets for major exhibitions.

We recommend booking tickets online in advance as this saves you time when you arrive.

Tips for booking online

Navigate to the date you are booking tickets for. Select General Entry ticket first. Choose quantity and add to your cart. If you want to add other tickets select ‘Back to Event Calendar’ to add other tickets. You can repeat this as many times as you need.

If you add an event, exhibition or other ticket to your cart without first selecting a general entry ticket, it will be added to your cart automatically.

When booking tickets online you can choose to receive a digital ticket (delivered as a PDF to your email) or to print at home. Please note that if you are booking multiple tickets one ticket will print per page.

When you arrive

If you book your tickets in advance, please present your digital or printed tickets to Gallery staff on arrival at main entry.

If you prefer to book your tickets in person, please go to the concierge desk in the main entry foyer when you arrive. To assist us in understanding where our visitors are from we will ask you to share your postcode with us when booking in person. This is optional and we understand if you choose not to do so.
